Cholecystitis
Inflammation of the gallbladder wall due to Cholestasis, usually as a result of cholelithiasis.
Unresolved cholecystitis can lead to peritonitis, sepsis, and death, following these steps:
- Inflammation of the gallbladder wall.
- Distention of the gallbladder.
- Ischemia to gallbladder tissues.
- Necrosis of the gallbladder wall.
- Rupture of the gallbladder wall, spilling contents into the peritoneum.
- Peritonitis.
